OFFSHORE 40
Cheoy Lee Shipyards
Rhodes design

Rumery's has been taking care of this Offshore 40 through three owners over about twenty years.

For those who don't know, the Offshore 40 is a close relation to the Rhodes Reliant. (Philip H. Rhodes design)

Cheoy Lee Shipyard hull number 2453 built in 1971. She has a Perkins 4108 diesel.

Recent work includes awlgrip, varnish toe rails, house sides, cockpit and spars.

Now the bilge pumps are being rebuilt/replaced (large manual Gusher 25 mounted in the bilge) and replaced (two Rule 12V pumps with automatic switches set to different depths and new plumbing all the way aft including new through hull.)

Some interior cosmetic work in underway as well. New Guest smart battery charger. Updating of many main electrical circuits. Attempts to minimize leaks to the interior. Replacement of the bunk boards (under the cushions) throughout the boat.

Call us to discuss your Cheoy Lee restoration or refit project. These are fine boats with lots of
life left in them.
They are very well built and worthy of refit/restoration.

See us at the 2009 Maine Boat Builders Show in Portland, March 20, 21 &22.

Look at my steering issues and offer some advice. STEERING

Torcello's rudder

Survey indicated possible problems. Rudder was taking on water. Technician opened the rudder to expose the structure. (We don't have notes to indicate if the internal structure is stainless or bronze.)

Water saturated material was removed and the rudder was put back together. Some reinforcements were fabricated using G10.
